The consulting firm Blue Pencil LLC helps business communicate better.
We reengineer writing processes to make them more efficient, and to help the documents they produce get better results.
Blue Pencil's principals – A.D. Maclin and Elisha Prero – have written and spoken extensively on what makes internal and external communication effective and profitable. They have taught at Illinois Institute of Technology's Chicago-Kent College of Law, and one or both have guest-lectured at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. They are preparing a textbook, on their editing system, for West Publishing.
A D Maclin worked as a lexicographer and technical editor before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan. While at law school, he served as editor-in-chief of a comparative-law journal. He earned an M.A. in English language from Leeds University, England, where he specialized in simplifying the language of British laws. He also appeared on British radio as a commentator on plain English. He advises businesses, governmental units, and individuals.

He has been a principal in start-up ventures in entertainment, real estate, and health care.
